“Seasons of Bethlehem” 36x72in Oil on canvas. 2024-2025
I was commissioned to paint this landscape of Bethlehem, CT for a very wonderful patron who has one of the most beautiful views from her home there. As it gets moved from the studio this weekend and hung in her home, I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on over the last year!
From left to right, each season flows into the next as the time across the sky moves from sunrise to sunset. The landscape includes literal elements of the owner’s view from her home as well as symbolic details personal to her and her family.
Painted in the traditional oil process of glazing, the colors were built up through translucent layers so when the light hits just right the whole painting glows and changes with the time of day. This piece was created to be a family heirloom, that represents the seasons of landscape and the seasons of life.
